Welcome, my name is Chante L. Dobbins-Wilkins,
For more than 37 years, I have been in the residential care industry, providing care and supervision to those with developmental disabilities and mental illness, both elderly and adult. My parents, Tom and Barbara Dobbins initially began Happy Haven Guest Homes (residential care) in 1971. I was raised alongside those with special needs as my extended family and grew to love and respect them throughout my lifetime. As my parents aged, I took over as administrator of Happy Haven Guest Homes.
Beginning August 1990 through January 2011, I opened seven residential care facilities under the names of C and D's Guest Homes, Inc., New Horizon's Residential and CI's Residential. I followed the example of my parents and raised my children side by side those residents along with help from my extended family.
In 2014, I realized the need for a day program that served those "unique" individuals, that for one reason or another, didn't "fit" into the typical day program model. It was then that I felt a great burden to design a program that was "unique" and capable of meeting those needs. In May 2014, I opened The Haven Adult Developmental Program. The day-to-day operations of The Haven ADP are managed by my sister-in-law Elisabete Dobbins.
During the daily operation of The Haven, it was noted that transportation was needed to transport consumers from home to day program and back home. At this time, I contracted with Central Valley Regional Center and began transportation services for consumers attending The Haven as well as transporting other consumers attending other day programs.
In March 2017, during a conversation with Allen Birks and Willie Cooksey, a discussion arose regarding helping the elderly population to medical appointments. I placed a call to Central California Alliance for Health (transportation services) and asked how I could become a provider. I was met with much enthusiasm. After communications and submission of paperwork, I began Dobbins Transportation, Inc. in June of 2017. Dobbins Transportation, Inc. is a non- emergency medical transportation company.
Dobbins Transportation, Inc. provides specialized door-to-door ambulatory, wheelchair and gurney transport for individuals needing assistance in getting to and from their medical appointments. Dobbins Transportation, Inc. ensures that transport needs are at the forefront of our operation, providing a timely, safe and courteous non- emergent transport experience.
Of course, we can't have ALL WORK AND NO PLAY!
I began Ohana Social Recreation, Inc. in August 2022. Ohana Social Recreation, Inc provides monthly trips in and outside of Merced County to Central Valley Regional Center individuals promoting inclusion in recreation and leisure activities.
As a woman owned business, C and D's Guest Homes, Inc., Haven Inc (formerly The Haven), Dobbins Transportation, Inc and Ohana Social Recreation, Inc., I currently employ 106 employees residing in Merced County.
I have WITHOUT ANY DOUBT been Blessed and look forward to continuing the work that I do. This industry is more than a job to me, "it is not what I do, it is who I am".
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
